Lieke van der Vorst is the illustrator behind Liekeland. She illustrates mostly with traditional materials like colored pencil, pens and oil paint. Lieke grew up in a small town in The Netherlands. Every summer her parents would drive to the Provence of France to camp among the lavender fields. It was these times in nature that have influenced her life and work. Being kind to animals and the environment became an important part of her vision. Nature is a recurring theme in her work, capturing a sense of positivity while still addressing serious issues.
